The Taiwan Medical Mission was established under bilateral medical cooperation agreements between the Governments of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Kingdom of Eswatini and has been implemented by Taipei Medical University and its affiliated hospitals since 2009. With more than 17 years of continuous service, the program aims to improve healthcare accessibility and population health through hospital-based medical services, nationwide outreach clinics, and the provision of multidisciplinary outpatient care.
The mission delivers comprehensive, specialist-led medical services, with current core specialties including Orthopaedics, Urology, Neurology, Cardiology, and Infectious Diseases. These specialties address critical healthcare needs in Eswatini by providing surgical care, advanced diagnostics, and long-term management of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Services are delivered through integrated outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and outreach activities, ensuring coverage for both urban and underserved populations.
In addition to clinical service delivery, the mission places strong emphasis on medical education, clinical training, and capacity building to enhance the sustainability of the local healthcare system. From 2026 onward, the programme will further expand into digital health and telemedicine services at Manzini Government Hospital, strengthening specialist support, knowledge transfer, and cross-border collaboration.

Our Strengths
1. Clinical Training
At the Taiwan Medical Mission, we provide structured clinical teaching through hands-on surgical training and outpatient clinic instruction. Our specialists work side by side with local healthcare professionals to deliver bedside teaching, case discussions, and supervised procedures.
2. Workshops & Conferences

In addition to daily clinical teaching, the mission regularly organizes specialty-focused workshops and seminars tailored to the needs of Eswatini’s healthcare system. These workshops cover both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, facilitating multidisciplinary learning, professional exchange, and evidence-based medical practice across key specialties
3. Medical Outreach Services

Through these outreach activities, the team provides medical consultations, basic diagnostic services, health education, and referral support, thereby improving access to essential healthcare for populations with limited medical resources.
