Department of Psychiatry at TMUH is a clinical center for patient care, research, and education. Our bilingual, multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and nurses. Our facilities include outpatient services, a 50 bed day-care, a 25 bed acute ward, and a sheltered workshop; we aim to provide a consistent and integrative system for treating mental health regardless of immediate or long-term care.
Due to a strong research foundation pioneered by Professor Shang-Ying Tsai, our department has continues to conduct innovative research essential in transforming our understanding and treatment of mood disorders (i.e. bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety). Our clinical programs address virtually every aspect of psychiatric disorders among children, adults and senior citizens. The current physician-in-chief is Dr Kuo-Hsuan Chung whose leadership has expanded our psychiatric services to the areas of psychosomatic medicine, sleep medicine, addiction medicine, and psycho-oncology.
